Granite countertop Faucet installation

We are having Uba Tuba granite countertops installed next week. I am handy and will be installing faucet myself. Will i need to apply a sealer to the faucet base? I read the directions on plumbers putty and it states "do not use on granite"! it will stain. So what do I use?

The directions are right on the money.

Use 100% clear silicone instead.
