cleaning/ repolishing a fossil stone table top |
Article Number: 1281 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Mon, Mar 3, 2008 at 12:00 AM |
I'm told I have a fossil stone table top. Not quite sure if it's real stone or not. I have what I believe are etches on it from various drinks and/ or acidic items (lemons, oranges) being sent on it over the years. (I have 4 children). You've mentioned you have products which I can purchase that I might possibly do a DIY at home to help bring back the lustre to the top. Which do you recommend?Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!
Dear Sheri:
Fossil stone is real stone alright. It is a fancy way of naming limestone, which is what it's all about. For the repair of etch marks, I always suggests a good quality marble repair kit, but under the circumstances I believe that your table top is too far gone for the performance of a homeowner kit. You can always try it (and in the worst case scenario it will come in handy in the future), but it is most likely that this time you will need the services of a bona fide stone restoration contractor that will have to slightly grind (hone) and then polish your entire top.
May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at:

Ciao and good luck,
