steam cleaning travertine

Hi. I have yellowish/beige honed and filled travertine floor in my kitchen with ivory grout. It is less than 1 1/2 years old but despite regular vacuuming and damp mopping (including a weekly one with MB-1), no pets, and only walking in socked feet, it already looks rather rough (including chips and it wasn't cheap stone!), and the grout lines are filthy. Would MB-2 work better on them - how often can you use it and is it with a brush or rag to really get in the grout lines?) Is it safe to use one of the home steam floor cleaners like the Bissell 1867 or the Shark steam mop on a regular basis to better maintain it? Please advise the best way to truly clean it, remove stains, get into the grout, before resealing and how to better maintain it.

MB-1 is a good everyday cleaner but when you really need to hit your floor a little harder, MB-2 is “your man”!

It will indeed clean your grout lines and the roughness of the stone to their pristine condition. It's a powerful cleaner and I believe that once every 6 months should do. You can use it with a brush and also with a steaming machine.

Keep in mind also that even MB-1 will perform better with a steam mop.

Finally, the sealing of the grout may make it more difficult to clean: most sealers are always a little sticky for several weeks after they applied and that stickiness traps soil more readily.
