Noche Travertine Floors

Q. I have a new condo in Cabo San Lucas Mexico with Travertine floors that they did not take care of during the construction. They have grout still on them and are just cloudy. What can be done short of having them polished? Steel wool?

A. Steel wool will not be suitable. If the floor is heavily covered in grout residue you will need to use honing powders (250 or 150 grit). This would need to be done by a professional. If the floor is not heavily covered you can personally use an alkaline based product such as MB-2 Heavy Duty Grout Cleaner (which can be used across the surface of the whole floor). Best results can be achieved by using the product with a scrubbing machine.
