Absolute Black granite

Q.I have absolute black granite countertops which have been installed approximately 4 years. They are beginning to look merky and seem to be in constant need of attention.I have tried water,vinegar(glass cleaner) and finally broke down and spent two hours polishing them with a granite polish .They look shiny or better than they did "they feel smoother" but in a good light I can still see a merky film on top, almost like I am not wiping them down good but I just can not rub any harder, and I am using a fresh towell. What do you guys recommend to freshen these up and return the shine that they once had? Thanks for your help!

A.Black ab is one of those stones that require the smallest amount of maintenance. The stone is non porous and should never be sealed. The natural luster of black ab is very high. Its possible you may have overdone the maintenance in the fours years you have had the stone.

It is probably best at this point to call in a stone refinisher

who has a good reputation and knows black ab well.

I think once he or she removes all the merky stuff from the face of the stone you will be fine.
