Travertine Floor Tiles

Hi Maurizio Have just had travertine tiles installed in the kitchen and they have been sealed.I have tried to wash them several times with brush, water and mild soap but the tiles still have smears and marks ALL OVER them.I must that I am dealing with shoddy workmen! Please help! Anne Moedbeck

Dear Anne:

Well, unless you live in great state of New Jersey , how do you figure that I could possibly help you??...

Removing the residue of cured-on impregnator (a.k.a. sealer) ain't no easy feat! And the best way to go about it is by professionally re-honing your floor with a good-quality honing-powder. This assuming that your travertine is hone-finished (you don't specify).

If it is polished instead, re-polishing it with a good-quality polishing powder for marble should do the trick.

No matter what, it's going to cost you a pretty penny, but you should be demanding your “shoddy workmen” to pick up the tab for the mess they created. Go to the find a pro section on www.stoneandtilepros.com and find a stone restoration contractor near you.

Finally, keep in mind that we need your support to help us helping you!

Will you please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Thank you

Ciao and good luck,
