Sealing Travertine

We are moving into a home that has new travertine installed. It has not been sealed yet and wonder if this is a job we can do ourselves. We have been quoted prices from $1.35 sf to $2.00 sf (we live in Dallas), this sure seems like alot of money to mop on some impregnator!

Dear Georgia:

How about if you skip the sealing thing altogether, use that money to have some fun with the family, and concentrate on learning how to take proper care of your stone on a daily basis, which, as it should be intuitive, it is vastly more important than the sealing – if and when possible and/or advisable, which is seldom the case with travertine?

By logging into the Helpful Hints section of our website at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/helpful-hints.htm , you will be able to get the short version of our maintenance guidelines at no charge.
