Hair Dye on Travertine Marble in Shower

I colour my hair with a semi permanent hair colour. In the past when I washed my hair I have sprayed bathroom cleaner with bleach around the tub and tile area and the colour has dissolved away. Now I've moved and there is travertine marble tiles in the shower and I have been told I can't use bleach as the tiles are pourus. Is there anything I can use or should I just go a natural colour?!!

Dear Rebecca:

The reason why it is not advisable to use bleach is not because travertine is porous. (In fact, it is not very porous.) It is rather due to the fact that bleach reacts chemically with the main makeup of the stone.

That said, there's a product that works like bleach and is safe on any natural stone, namely MB-9 that will do the service for you.
