granite crack

Just got Tropical Brown granite installed in our kitchen. After three weeks notice a 12 inch long crack to the left of the sink running from the middle of the bottom cabinet hlaf way across the slab. The company to their credit took responsibility and gave me two options. one they said they would reluctantly redo the whole job tearing out all three counter slabs and fabricating new ones to replace all three slabs not just the cracked one or two the offered to warranty that the crack would not grow larger or they would redo things and do some other work in my home such as a fireplace or vanity at cost. They claim that the crack was from the imnporter and was reinforced and polished and is very unlikely to crack any further. Is the crack unlikely to get worse since it apparently was reinforced with metal rods and polished out? Or is the company just trying to get out of the least desireable option which is to replace the whole countertop? The crack is not really noticeable

Dear Cliff;
Well, at least they didn't try the "natural fissure" angle...
That said, it is impossible for me to esablsh if the crack is nver going to get any worse.
However, a big question begs to be asked: Why don't they repair the crack??...
It's plenty do-able.

Ciao and good luck,
