Granite Edge Polishing

We had uba tuba installed in our new home. During the construction process, some contractor had scratched the corner. We requested to have the scratch buffed out. The installer has buffed out the scratch, but we are now left with a dull spot. The installer has attempted to restore the finish twice. After the installer leaves, the spot looks beautiful, but then after about 2 days, the dull spot reappears. But, each time the dull spot just gets larger. What is the proper way to restore the finish? Can it be done?

Dear Nikia:

Obviously, you installer does not know how to polish stone edges on location and he finishes the job by applying some sort of wax to cover up the deficiency of his performance.

Can it be done?

Of course it can!

But not by your installer (it's pretty clear by now) and certainly not by you, alas. Stone is polished mechanically by abrasion and friction with special tools, abrasive means and… yes, skills!

Your best bet is to get hold of a reputable stone restoration contractor and charge your fabricator for whatever you will have to spend to have the job done right.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
