etched marble vanity top

Maurizio, I damaged my polished carrera marble bathroom countertop today when I got some chemical cleaner on it (I was cleaning my dehumidifier)that turned out to contain acid. Now there are acid etchings around the sink area. I notice you say to some others with similar problems that you can instruct how it can be repaired. My husband and I are both quite handy, so we'd like to try. I have purchased some of your stone products before and have been pleased. So what do I need for this more difficult repair? Any help or guidance you can give me is much appreciated. The countertop is new, only about 1-1/2 years old. Susan

Hmmm… I doubt that. If I have to take a wild guess, I'd say that, give or take a few millenia, is on or around 200,000-year-old!! J

White Carrara Marble is not too difficult to repair, but it all depends on the severity of the etching. If the acid was very strong and the consequent etching looks really dull and rough, then you may need to do some light-grinding (honing) before polishing and that would take it out of your hands and put it on professional territory. However, if the etching is from medium to light, a good-quality Marble Repair kit should do the trick for you.
