Italian Green Soapstone Leather Granite

Hi Maurizio, I saw the question you were unable to answer from July of 2007 about Italian Green Soapstone Leather Granite. I have some of what looks like this stone in my kitchen. I was told it was soapstone, too. Of 2 stone fabricators doing work on our project, one said it was a a very dense soapstone, while the one who did the fabrication said he didn't think it was soapstone because it was so hard it burned his blades. The finish is polished, not high gloss. I am wondering if you'd found out more about this stone since then. If not, what might be your best guess as to how to care for an unknown stone? Should I treat it like granite? Thanks in advance, Aloha, Dave B

Quite honestly I don't even remember that particular question of July 2007.

That said, I never even heard of soapstone so hard to burn the blades of a bridge saw!

So, unfortunately, I'm afraid that I'm still ignorant about this mysterious stone… L

Yeah, I would treat it as “granite”.
