Black mold on travertine stone in shower

How is black mold removed from travertine stone on the lower shower wall and floor?

Dear Fred:

How is black mold removed from travertine stone on the lower shower wall and floor?

With a jackhammer!

If travertine – which is one of the most mildew and mold-resistant stones on the planet – is developing such a serious case of black mold, it could mean that you have lots of water and for a very long time behind and under your tiles. Maybe the installer felt “Italian” and installed your tiles butt-joint (no grout), maybe grout is damaged and/or missing… If that's the case, it is certainly not by cleaning the surface of the stone that you're gonna solve that problem, I'm sorry to say.

Without actually seeing your stall it is impossible for me to make a sure assessment. If it is only on the surface (kind of hard to believe with travertine), a specific product like MB-9 will do the work for you, but going by the short description of your problem, it doesn't sound good at all. Could you send me a few pictures?

Needless to say, if marblecleaning.org could have its ways, situations like this one would not exist. But we can't do anything by ourselves. We need the support of the consumers to succeed. On that spirit…

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
