Q. I am seriously thinking of using Carrera marble countertops in my kitchen. I have been told that they stain very easily, they are very porous, and are high maintenance. What would be the difference between using carrera marble and granite? What do you suggest?
A. I would highly recommend that you use marble in your kitchen only if you never plan on using your kitchen. Marble is very sensitive to acids and it will etch severely. It will also be suscecptible to staining since it is so light in color. Granite on the other hand is acid resistant and therefore will not etch like marble. For this reason I would recommend granite.
