bianco carrara polished marble floor and shower stall and grout

Hi Maurizio, After reading your posts, I understand there is no need to seal polished marble since sealer will not penetrate. However, I wish to seal the grout on the floor and shower to maintain its colour and minimize staining...which product would you recommend to seal the grout that would not damage or alter the color of the marble. Further, what is the proper way of applying it. Thank you.

Dear Carla:

What are you going to stain grout inside a shower stall with?... Well, never mind… If it makes you feel better you could use any good-quality stone impregnator like MB-4 and apply it with a cotton swab to your grout lines.

And remember to monitor them all the time: if you notice even the smallest amount of grout missing or cracked, address the problem immediately! You do NOT want any water finding its way behind and under your tiles!

Moreover, remember, it's never too early to think about the proper maintenance of your stone. The issue of what you'll be doing day in and day out to your stone is – as it should be intuitive – vastly more important than its sealing (if and when possible and/or advisable) and it's all too often neglected. As you can tell by reading many of this site's postings, you're not likely to get good information about routine care from your dealer or installer. Don't become another statistic!
