classico st cecelia grit

We just moved into our new house in Jan. 07 which had classico st cecelia granite countertops installed in our kitchen. Immediately we noticed that there was a grit buildup on our counters. Our fabricator came in used denatured alcohol and resealed surface areas again still the problem persists can you provide us with any insight as to what the problem might be and how to correct it? Thanks

Dear Kenny:

The problem is quite simple: it's a low-grade slab.

The solution?

Hmmm… kinda hard turning a low-grade slab into a high-grade one, don't you think?... It would be like trying to turn rail-road ties into furniture-grade lumber!

Only an (extremely) proficient stone restoration contractor could pull something like that off by applying a flowing epoxy resin, let it cure properly and then grind and refinish the whole thing. There are probably no more than two guys like that in the whole US of A, alas. Not to mention that they would probably charge you more than replacing the whole thing.

The denatured alcohol and sealer thing would be amusing if it were not just pathetic!! :-(

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,
