Tumbled Marble Yellow Stains

Five years ago we installed white tumbled marble with white grout in a shower enclosure. It has recentley grown a yellow cast (stain) on the marble and the grout, but only in the shower area. What do you think this is?

Dear Pete:

What do you think this is?

Rust. There's got to be some crack in the grout or caulk lines where water found its way under those affected tiles. Once under the tiles, the water start migrating to the top through the core of the stone and since many white marbles have various percentages of iron minerals within, the oxidize through and through, also affecting the grout.

There's nothing that you can do about that, other than replacing them.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
