Absolute black granite

I recently got an absolute black granite installed in my kitchen. The contractor insisted on putting a shield on it but we didn't, because my dad was being cheap. Which I find out now is a good thing because your not supposed to seal absolute black granite! So which leads to my question…Should we be worried about water spots? [Our contractor warranted us this would happen but then again he also said to put on a shield] Also, what do we use to keep out counter tops clean? Just water? Thank you!

If you will ever have “water spots” on your black “granite” you would have a problem that only an attorney could solve for you! (Unfortunately it is very common, due to a criminal activity – malicious stone doctoring – that's been going on for a quarter of a century totally unopposed. To understand what I'm talking about take a look at: http://www.doctoredstone.org.) If that would be the cas e, no sealer in the entire galaxy could even begin to do the first thing to prevent it.

So, you did the right thing to tell your installer not to put his silly and totally useless “shield” on your stone! It could have created problems and solved none!
