Honed Black Absolute

Prior to all my research on this site I specified honed black absolute for my client's kitchen. Now I must locate someone qualified to best improve, based on your recommendations. Do you have a contact for the Chicago area that knows how to address and minimize issues according to your many posts on the subject?

Dear David:

The best thing to do to brand-new hone-finished black “granite” countertops is to have a professional stone restoration contractor re-hone it completely with a good-quality 150 grit honing powder. This will eliminate completely all the ugly swirls marks produced by the factory or the fabricator. (Actually, smart fabricators with a bed-polisher should powder-hone each slab at the shop and then fabricate them.)

After that, the application of a good-quality, acid-resistant color-enhancer like MB-6 will deliver a beautiful looking finished product with not too many maintenance problems, if the right cleaning agents are used for routine care.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,

Mauri z io Bertoli
