best stone for dogs

I have a Great dane that is getting older and tends to urinate on my flooring. I thought about installing Travertine in my Dining Room to cut down down on the odor and for easy cleanup. In your opinion what is the best stone for frequent "accidents"?

Dear Katryna:

Unfortunately there's no such thing like a “best stone” for a problematic situation like yours. Travertine, being a calcareous rock, is among the least appropriate.

Very dark “granite”, like black absolute, Volga blue, pewter, etc. may fit the bill, but… You may want to consider ceramic tiles.

Ciao and good luck,
