Stain on Black Galaxy

Q. My husband left a bag (brown paper inside plastic) of frozen crab legs on our black galaxy countertop overnight. This morning there was a large amount of liquid under the bag and spreading all over the counter. I have tried cleaning it with water, water with a little mild washing up liquid, and now a spray of Method granite cleaner. There is still a large stain - lighter in some places, almost rainbow-like around the edges, like an oil stain. I've been reading your website which has a amazing amount of helpful information but am not sure the best thing to do. Is the stain something that can be lifted out with one of your poultices; is it etching; or worse, is it possibly a case of "substandard" black galaxy? I'd really appreciate any advice you can give me. We've had the countertops for 1.5 years and have had no other problems - I've only ever cleaned them with water and a micro-fiber cloth and they have looked lovely this whole time. Thank you so much. Linda

A. Hi Linda. It may only be moisture in which case it should dry out in a few days. If not, then your next step will be to apply a poultice. Instructions for creating and using a poultice can be found in our Stone Care Guide

Please let us know how you make out.
