Sealing Crema Marfil Marble

Q. We just installed Polished Crema Marfil Marble in our bathroom for the counter. The other day I was cleaning the bathroom and had several bottle's with water on the bottom of them sitting on the new marble. After about 3 minutes I took the bottle's off the counter only to find several water ring's in the stone. The water did go away. What can I put on the counter top to prevent staining and watermarks. We also like the light color of the Crema Marfil and do not want it to get dark. I was told to put Aqua Mix Enrich & Seal on the Marble (have not done this). Please help, we love the stone and want to keep the beauty!!!! Thank you.

A. It sounds like your stone needs to be sealed. When the water 'darkened' the marble, that indicated that the stone is absorbant. Do not use a color enhancing sealer such as Enrich & Seal. That will give you a permanent 'wet' look. Use a good quality impregnating sealer such as MB Stonecare MB-4 from http://www.mbstonecare.com .
