spots on marble tile

Q.I recently installed marble tile in a bathroom. About three days after installation small hazy spots started to appear. I've tried several different cleaners and nothing works. These spots look like water spots and you can only see them if the light hits it just right. I don't know what is causing these spots or how to get rid of them. Any ideas would be very helpful.
A.Marble is composed of calcium carbonate which is an acid sensitive mineral.Anything acidic will cause a chemical reaction with the stone. The calcium will neutralize the acid by giving up itself. That is where the dull spots come from. They cannot be cleaned away as they are marks of corrosion on the stones surface. They need to be removed by honing the surface with diamond abrasives
and or polishing compounds used by a professional stone refinisher.Find one at www.stoneandtilepros.com
The cleaners you are using may be causing the problem.Marble requires the use of a ph neutral cleaner.
If the etching is light we sell a product called mb-11 that may actually do the trick to remove those marks. If not you will need the pro.We sell stone specific cleaners as well.
