removing haze from travertine tile |
Article Number: 1923 | Rating: Unrated | Last Updated: Thu, Nov 12, 2009 at 12:00 AM |
Q. I laid 18x 18 tiles on shower wall and floor. Followed the next week with some grout to fill the 1mm gap where it was present. I also kind of rubbed the ground material (not the sand but the color material) all over in order to make it even. After 24- 48 hrs I realize the gross error since I have lost the natural color, but left with a haze and the grout color filling the stone surface. How can I get back my natural color.
A. Paul- Travertine is a dense stone so the colored pigment you rubbed into the surface should come off by using a high alkaline cleaner.
Its possible you may need a solvent to remove the color but you test an area with an alkaline cleaner first.
I may be able to guide you though the process but I will need more info. Feel free to call me at 888-400-4302.
If you have a grout residue issue you may need to mechanically remove it.
In that case it is best to hire the services of a pro. To locate one in your area, refer to the Find a PRO section at www.stoneandtilepros.com
