Outdoor Kitchen Countertop

Hi Maurizio - great site you have. I am planning an outdoor Kitchen. While most of the counter area will be covered, some areas will be exposed to weather. I was thinking of a bluestone counter with a honed finish. Would you have any concerns with using the material? If so, any other suggestions? Thank you - Michael

Thank you for your nice words!

Bluestone is a variety of sandstone. Personally, indoor or outdoors, I wouldn't consider using that material as a countertop for a kitchen if they'd pay me to get it. But then again, both my wife and I do use the kitchen (and the countertops) a lot!

If you like the rustic look, I would consider soapstone. If contemporary is within your range, then nothing could beat a good selection of Grigio Sardo (a.k.a. Slat & Pepper) or Rosa Beta polished granite. Beautiful, timeless, beyond any trend and as bullet-proof as they come!

Just take good care of it wit the right cleaning products and… enjoy!!
