Travertine grout

Hello, I'm thinking of grouting and filling in the holes of my honed travertine patio. However, having read about people's problems with dried on grout film messing up the natural surface of the stone I'm wondering if i'm doing the right thing? Will I need to clean off unwanted grout before or after it's dried? ta

Dear Steven:

I'm thinking of grouting and filling in the holes of my honed travertine patio

And why would you want to do that, if I may ask?...

Travertine patios are best left ungrouted and unfilled. Just put a mix of sand and cement in between the tiles (in a proportion of 6 to 1), spray a mist of water over the whole floor with your garden hose, and be done with it.

This is not as much for the possible problem of grout residue on the surface of the stone. It is just that, when installed outdoors, the more you leave your stone free to “breathe”, the better.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm? J

Ciao and good luck,
