Black Travertine

I have a customer who had 45cm Black Honed Travertine installed in a large busy portion of there home. It is scratching very easily. Plastic items such as wastebaskets and laundry baskets leave marks you can almost get your finger nail into. Most all travertine scratches but the black does scratch white is this unusual?. I am looking for a contactor to rehone the floor. The question I have is is there a sealer out there that will protect from the scrathes and be stronger than the travertine itself? Thanks

Dear Jason:

The answer to your last question is, no.

It's immaterial, however, because the real issue is that I don't have the slightest idea of what stone you're talking about!

There's no such a thing like black travertine, hone-finished, polished or what-have-you.

So, unless somebody painted your travertine with some black flat paint, try to find out what stone you really have and then we'll take it from there.

Ciao and good luck,
