Kitchen stone floor coating

Hello Maurizio, I have a natural stone floor in my kitchen, which has had a glossy coating on it since we moved in. However now this coating seems to be loosing it's shine and flaking in high-use places, and is in need of restoration. Do you have any ideas what product might have been used to get this finish, and how we might go about restoring this? I would prefer to keep the clear-gloss finish. I look foward to hearing your suggestions. Ruth

Dear Ruth:

Sometimes, homeowners that are selling their homes are faced with the issue of the restoration of a stone floor. Once they realize how much it cost to do it right, they will try anything in order not to spend much money. And some go as far as doing a disgraceful thing like applying some sort of urethane coating to the floor just to pretty it up and then let the buyers deal with the problems they will inevitably arise.

This is certainly not a DIY project and your only option is to hire a reputable stone restoration company to do the right thing for you.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
