I have recently installed Travertine paving outside my house (much admired), and whilst the 'slippage' factor when wet is not too much of a concern (I keep reminding people that it also rains in Rome!), I am alarmed at just how slippy the Travertine gets when icy. I have held back from applying any treatments other than sand, but can you advise if there is anything available to apply when conditions are icy ?

With that “whilst” thing you must be form the other side of the pond, right?...

I wouldn't know of any safe chemical treatment to prevent ice accumulation on travertine. I would just stick to sand: the coarser the better.
