110 sq metre floor recommended stone

Hi, I have hairline cracks across more than 60 tiles in my limestone floor( cracks travel across tiles for up to 5 feet in length). The cracks collect dirt ( hygenie issue) and become very noticable over >6 month period. I installed 110 square metres of honed limestone tiles in my home from front door through to back kitchen and entertaining area in December 2005. It has electric cable wire heating underneath. The floor needs resealing, and these numerous cracks filled. Before I spend > $4k doing this I would like to stop what is causing the problem - would it have been the glue , or the combination with heating. Perhaps I have selected an inappropriate tile for this large area. Would travertine or porcelian been stronger and not cracked ? The under surface is heavy grade particle board on wood beams.

Dear Linda:

Hmmm… Somehow I though that you were sending this query from Down Under, but then the mention of your sub floor (wood beams and particle board) makes me doubt it.

At any rate, the reason for the cracking can be compound and only an inspection on location be an expert could help determine the cause and find an appropriate course of action. The material chosen has little bearing on the cracking.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
