Dear Maurizio, Just had white travertine marble installed in my bathroom floor, the sanded grout we chose was dark in color and seems to have left stains on the tile, how can we get rid of those dark stains? Will they dry as days go by? Please help!!!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid that if your travertine is actually stained (not a residue of grout film sitting on the surface of the tiles, but actual imbedded staining), it will turn out to be but impossible removing the stains. Well, technically, the removal of the stains shouldn't be much of a problem in itself. The real problem is the grout. If you poultice the stains out you may end up pulling the die of the grout inside the stone through the sides of the tiles. And that would be really some bad news.

I belive that by now you realized that unless you choose a lighter color, it is never a good idea to apply grout of a different color to natural stone tiles. L

You can try to remove the stains while keeping you fingers crossed; you've got nothing to lose, anyway…
