We have an outdoor sculpture that is carrara marble. For the past 15 years it has lived outside and is now becoming grayish in color. Do you have any suggestions for cleaning?

Not only is it grayish, but it also feels a little rough at the touch, right?

Don't even think for a minute to try to make it smooth again! That rough surface is the natural patina that the stone created for itself to protect it from the weather. (I know, many refers to patina like a shiny finish created by years of rubbing a certain surface. It is a misconception: that is natural honing/polishing, not patina.)

The clean it and make it turn back to whitish, you could use a solution of 50/50 water and MB-9. Spray the statue liberally and let the solution work. Do it a few more times. Rinse thoroughly with a hose. Don't go crazy if it will not become perfectly clean. If you wanted a statue of White Carrara as good as new, you should have never put it outdoors… J
