granite countertops pit holes

We recently moved to a new house with granite countertops in the kitchen, but the granite has many pit holes about 2mm wide, 1 mm deep and I would like to know if this is normal?. We have never had granite before. Thank you.

Dear Sonia:

It's hard to tell without knowing what kind of granite or “granite” you have.

Better yet, it would help a great deal if you could send me a couple of pictures.

With certain “granites” a certain amount of pitting the way you describe it is to be considered normal.

But what's a “certain amount” anyway?...

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,
