The tropic brown granite that was installed on my island has a 22 inch, straight as an arrow, line in it. The installer says it is a fissure although 2 of the managers admitted never seeing one this long or straight. It cannot be felt with your hand, but does not appear to be a natural vein. This so called fissure is about 10 inches from the overhang of the island and runs exactly parallel to the cabinet base. Is it possible that a crack could be underneath the cabinet that will eventually come to the surface. How do I determine if this is in fact a fissure or would you suggest that the dealer replace this piece?

This is a bit too much for me to give you even a wild guess, let alone an educated one. Only a physical inspection of the installation could determine what the real story is and if and how it should be addressed.

One thing is for sure: Tropic Brown may have a few fissures, but they are all small. Second, no fissure is as straight as an arrow and 22” long to boot!

Something is obviously wrong and probably serious, but I can intelligently tell you what and, consequently, what course of action to take.
