Dear Jeanne:
“
What type of stone is Butterfly Blue?
”
I have not the faintest idea! It could be charnockite, but it could also be something else with those blue inserts. I don't know anybody who ran a petrography test on that particular stone. It's from
“
Also, our pennisula has a 13" ledge on one side and they indicated that corbels were not necessary.
”
Corbels (or other supporting means) are mandatory after 11”. Actually, not know gin the stone and its flexural strength, I would corbel the overhang after 8” if it were my own home.
“
They "swiped" some stuff on it and told us it was sealed
”
Thank goodness that stone, most likely, doesn't need to be sealed; because is certainly not by wiping some stuff on it that you do a good sealing job. Do read the free article about a good sealing job that you can find at:

“The installer said to just use water to clean daily.
”
Well, that is because it is probably what his wife uses to clean dishes and what he uses when he showers himself: just water… Nice!
“
