pet urine on marble floors

My little dog has urinated sev times on my shiney marble floor. It seems as if it took the finish off and looks sort of like a water spot. What can Ido to restore these marble tiles like the others in the room?

Dear Judy:

Urine contains ureic acid and, like any other acid, will react with the calcite of your marble. The “water stains” that you have are in fact etch marks.

In other words, what you have are actual surface damages that need to be repaired.

You can opt for a professional stone restoration contractor, or, if the etch marks are not too many, you could consider using a good-quality marble re-polishing product like MB-11.

If you choose the latter, let me know how it worked out! :-)

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?   :-)

Ciao and good luck,
