Emerald Pearl Granite with mineral deposits

We have emerald pearl granite countertops in our kitchen and have had no issues with stains from water glasses/coffee mugs etc. The only issue is hard water stains near the sink from a sponge and baby bottle brush that kept the granite wet. It looks like a dry patch lighter in color than our granite. It's also not as smooth to touch as the rest of our countertops. I can also see the same problem developing near our dish drying rack from water droplets so i am now careful to wipe down immediately. What do you recommend i do for the dry patch? Greatly appreciate your help, Sonal.

Dear Sonal:

Without actually inspecting your stone with a magnifying glass (I mean it), I can't tell exactly what the real story is. Considering the type of stone and your description of the problem, I will assume that's an accumulation of mineral deposits.

Hoping that I'm right on the money, first you scrape the worst with a razor-blade and then you finish the job with a heavy-duty alkaline cleaner with chelates in its formula (to remove soap scum and mineral deposits) rated for natural stone, like MB-3.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http:// www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
