Black Honed Granite Kitchen Countertops

I recently renovated my kitchen and against all advice decided to have black honed granite countertops installed. Having already read some of your comments regarding this type of stone on another website, I did not allow the installer to seal the product. I do love the countertop and I'm not sorry I chose it, but I want to get the best advice as to how to care for it. How important is the color enhancer? Your color enhancer has a sealer in it, so I assume I could not use that. What about daily care - soap and water? Thank you in advance.

Dear Kerry:

If you apply an impregnator before the color enhancer, the latter wouldn't have a chance to work properly and you will have lots of problems with surface staining. However, if you apply MB-6 to a stone that was not sealed, it will work perfectly. The fact that it is also an impregnator is immaterial: the important thing is that it has a chance to work as a color enhancer. (To the best of my knowledge, all color-enhancers are impregnating sealers as well.)
