Roughly 6 months ago I had a new patio laid of Indian stone.I have noticed over the last couple of months a black spidery growth which seems to be in the actual stone itself. Initially it was only found in a couple of the slabs but traces can now be seen in several and it seems to be spreading. I was wondering if this a natural phenomenum and whether there is anyway of removing or halting the progress. As the slabs are quite light in colour it is quite unsightly. When it comes to outdoor installations there are only two types of stones: 1. The right ones.   2. The wrong ones.

The wrong ones are so because they will develop problem with no solutions.

Now you take a wild guess which group your stone belongs to… L

If the “phenomenon” that you're reporting is only unsightly, consider yourself lucky and learn how to live with it. If it is more serious than that…

Now, wouldn't it be nice having to deal within an industry that can tell you which stone is good for outdoors and which is not?
