travertine or toehr stone in a shower with rusty water?

we have well water that is softened, but we still have a fair amount of iron in the water. if we tile with travertine will it stain with iron? if travertine will stain we are thinking of using a dark brown-ish granite tile like chestnut-what do you think?

Dear Dorothy:

If you have iron in your water everything will get stained by it. Your “solution” makes sense… J

And, in a case like this it also make sense to apply an impregnating sealer to your tiles like MB-4: it won't solve the problem completely but it should help.
