sealing a sandstone bathroom sink

We order a travertine slab bathroom sink, but received a fairly dense chinese red sandstone, (long story and it is ours to keep). So to seal it since it is very porous with grains, is a fluoride based impregnator sealer or silicone sealer better, or a combination? Which product of yours would you recommend? thank you. dan

Dear Dan:

Under the circumstances, considering the kind of use it will go through, I believe that your best bet is to use a highly water-repellent product. You can use 511 Porous Plus that's available at the Home Depot. It is not great at repelling oil, but you don't care about that.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,
