I recently purchased Volga Blue for my kitchen is it a difficult material to fabricate? I have 4 seams at my sink area 2 long "L's" that meet at the sink area but aren't quite long enough, so there is a 18" wide piece at top and bottom of the sink. I can see the seams from about 10 feet away because the sun from the kitchen window shines on it, the edges where the pieces meet look like there are little chips about an 1/8" all along the seam. I'm told that the granite chips when fabricated and it can't be fixed. The fabricator is resistant about changing the piece. He had a blow torch and melted some material in the cracks, it chipped off and he still needs to fix it. Also on my island that is one slab 9'X 5' I have an 1" wide chip that goes over the edging(squared edge) and the fabricator says it's the crystals in the volga blue, since the edge is a differnt piece mitered at a 45 degree angle so the seam is on the to top corner edge of the granite to me it doesn't make sense. He said that he would put some type of filler in it to make it not noticeable, also is it common practice to get a black permanent marker and rub it into the granite to cover a fissure??? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Kinda hard to make a sure assessment, but what you're reporting to me doesn't sound kosher at all. All these excuses allegedly put forth by your fabricator don't make much sense and sound like a dance and a song of sorts…

On the other hand, what can you expect when the only requirement necessary to become a stone fabricator is to be alive?… Welcome to the stone industry!
