Hi Maurizio, I just found your terrific site on the Internet. I have a question. We have just purchased a Jerusalem stone countertop (I believe it is a type of limestone; not sure)to be installed shortly in our new kitchen. My husband and I fell in love with the stone and went to the supplier to chose our own stone slab. I'm now worried by some of the questions and comments on your site. Should I be? Is this going to be something I will regret. How should I keep it clean daily and what is the maintenance? Will it scratch easily? Thanks very much. Donna

It all depends on how heavily you will be using your countertop and what your expectations are from a stone like that. If you plan to use your kitchen intensively and are worried about every little things that's gonna happen to your stone, then you're in trouble. But if you are like the guy who runs the pizza parlor down the street from you and treat your countertop the same way he treats the piece of marble he rolls his dough on, you're going to be fine… J

As for its care, The issue of what you'll be doing day in and day out to your stone is – as it should be intuitive – vastly more important than its sealing (if and when possible and/or advisable) and it's all too often neglected. As you can tell by reading many of this site's postings, you're not likely to get good information about routine care from your dealer or installer. Don't become another statistic!
