water damage to marble floor


I have a marble floor which was beatifull untill a pipe broke in the basement and water ran under the sand and cement mixture used to set the marble.The marble was intalled on the directly to the basement cenent floor.now the marble is chipping,flaking and has a dull abrasive texture.What happend i thought that marble would withstand water.The floor is completely ruined.The marble tiles are 3/4" thick.

Some do and some don't. Stones that are traded as marble can be quite different from one another.

That said, it's jackhammer time!

But you do have homeowner insurance, don't you?
