waterproofing outdoor 2nd floor travertine deck

I have a leak over my lanai and I suspect it coming from the 2nd story outdoor travertine deck. The deck base is a OSB board laid on a slope. This was waterproofed with a rubber roofing membrane called hydrostop. The travertine was then thin set and grouted. Later it was sealed. Our climate is South Georgia. This is a new house. How best to determine if the travertine or the grout is the problem? Thanks for the help. Marcia

Dear Marcia:

If the waterproofing membrane is still in place and unscathed, the tiles or the grout cannot be the problem.

Needless to say, from here I can't even begin to guess what the cause of your leak could be.

There's a company called American Leak Detection ( www.americanleakdetection.com) with franchises a little bit all over the country .

You may consider inquiring with them.

Ciao and good luck,
