Granite top crack

Hi Maurizio I have a black galaxy granite top in the kitchen. Unfortunately, I put a hot soup pot on it and it now has a hairline crack. From the many posts that I have read, epoxy filler seems to be able to do the job. There are many products out there, can you recommend one? Also, do you think this product would work for filling in cracks "HOT FILLER FOR MARBLE AND GRANITE" http://www.islandmarble.com.sg/mastics.asp

Dear Peter:

A airline crack can only be filled with something extremely fluid, such as penetrating epoxy or CA glue (Cynoacrylate, a.k.a. superglue).

Anything else will not work.

As for the mastic you sent me the link of, I really don't know. I might be wrong, but it appears to me that if it's thick enough to fill small holes it will probably not penetrate an airline crack.

All in all, while the repair can be made, I really do not consider it a DIY project.

May I ask you now to please read and e-sign our Statement of Purpose at: http://www.marblecleaning.org/purpose.htm?

Ciao and good luck,

Mauri zio Bertoli
