Dear Cindy:
You heard it wrong. Marble doesn't stain easy at all. What it does it etches easily, because it is sensitive to acidic substances and anything that you will spill on it will corrode its surface on contact. Nothing to do with staining, but still a royal pain in the neck.
However, there's a solution that many of my former customers (when I was still a stone restoration contractor) adopted and have been very happy with: they had a sheet of glass custom-made and put on top of the table top. That's the only “sealer” that would work.
