Caulk for travertine

Q. I have light colored travertine in 2 of my bathrooms with sanded grout. What type of caulk is best to seal where the floor tiles meet the wall tiles, etc.? Is there a matte clear caulk vs the shiny-style caulk?

A. First, sanded grout is generally not recommended for marble or limestone since it can scratch the surface. If the grout joint is smaller than 1/8 of an inch chances are it is unsanded grout. As far a caulking I would use a 100% silicone. You can use clear or you can also use one that is color matched to the travertine.
