Marble Bathroom Floor - Stains / Spots around toilet

Q. My marble floor around the toilet has spots (probably urine) that won't come clean with the marble cleaner I've purchased. What do you suggest next?

A. We hear this quite a bit. I'm assuming the spots are lighter in color rather than a stain of some sort. Your marble has probably been etched from the acid in the urine spills or possibly from harsh bathroom / toilet bowl cleaners and should be polished. If the area is not too large or too severely damaged (you can't feel the roughness with your fingertips) you can easily polish out the etching with a good marble polishing powder or compound. MB Stone Care MB-11 is a good marble polishing powder that is easy to use. You can find it at www.mbstonecare.com.

If the etching is severe I would recommend contacting a stone restoration contractor in your area. To locate a qualified stone restoration contractor, go to: www.stoneandtilepros.com/findapro.php
