Q. My husband and I in a few days will close on a home we have built with a contractor. We recently had our first walk though and I noticed a green stain on our granite counter tops in the kitchen. The construction supervisor told us this was part of the color of the granite and that there were more small green spots close to this large spot. They are all on the edge of the granite. I checked the rest of the granite and there are no other spots. I have reseached and Santa Cecilia granite has no green in it, I think. Do I have cause for concern. Should there be green or is this a stain? Thank you.

 

A. You are right, Santa Cecilia granite has no green in it.  The green spots are likely to have been caused by some type of spillage and in order to remove this stain we would need to know what has been spilt on the surface.
